Megabonk Guide: Characters, Weapons, Bosses & Update Status

Updated · Patch covered: Megabonk v1.0.69 (Feb 4, 2026), still the latest on Steam as of Oct 22, 2026

Megabonk is a 3D survivors-like by the solo developer vedinad, released on Steam on September 18, 2025 for $9.99. You run, jump and slide around a large map while your weapons fire on their own, pick a weapon, tome or stat upgrade at each level-up, open chests for items, and beat three stages per map before a final boss. It is single-player only. The latest patch is v1.0.69 (February 4, 2026) — see update status.

How a run works

Is Megabonk still getting updates?

Not recently. The last patch is v1.0.69 on February 4, 2026. As of October 22, 2026 there has been no patch for more than eight months, and no next update has been announced on Steam. That is not an official end of support — the developer has never said development stopped — but there is no public date for new content, multiplayer or a fourth map.

Before the gap, updates came quickly: balance patches every week or two after launch, then three content updates in six weeks (Spooky, Christmas, Hats).

  1. 1.0 launch — Release on Steam with 2 maps (Forest, Desert), 20 characters and roughly 80 items.
  2. v1.0.7 — Balancing; Kevin no longer gives invincibility. Developer: "I definitely wanna try to add multiplayer down the line".
  3. v1.0.12 — Leaderboard and anti-cheat fixes, harder Final Swarm, Chaos Tome rewards +50%. Multiplayer and more maps listed as future 'major stuff'.
  4. v1.0.17 — Full map with fog of war, particle opacity slider, DX12 option, Chaos Tome double-luck bug fixed.
  5. Spooky Update (v1.0.41) — New map (Graveyard), new character, new weapon, items, enemies and bosses; Shrine Counter setting; late-game FPS work.
  6. v1.0.49 Christmas Patch — Wizard's Hat (a Pot for tomes), easier Graveyard achievements, Fox and Clover changes, Kevin moved to Epic rarity.
  7. v1.0.64 "H A T S" — 21 hats, save recovery from Steam achievements, buffs to Vlad, Robinette and Spaceman, crit upgrades for Bone and Shotgun.
  8. v1.0.69 hotfix — Latest patch on Steam as of October 22, 2026.

The developer had promised "regular updates after launch" (Jul 31, 2025) and listed multiplayer and more maps as future major work (Oct 8, 2025). We will update this section when a new patch ships.
