Megabonk Build Planner & Best Builds

Updated · Patch covered: Megabonk v1.0.69 (Feb 4, 2026), still the latest on Steam as of Oct 22, 2026

A Megabonk build is one character, up to 4 weapons, up to 4 tomes and the items you hunt for. The planner below checks the one thing that most often goes wrong: whether your tomes raise stats your weapons actually use. Load one of the four sourced builds or make your own, then copy the link to share it. Part of the Megabonk guide.

Build planner

Load a sourced build:
1. Character (sets your starting weapon)
2. Weapons 0/4
3. Tomes 0/4
4. Key items 0/16

Common · green

Uncommon · blue

Rare / Epic · purple

Legendary · yellow

Your build

Pick a character (or load a sourced build above) to start. Your build is saved in the page link, so you can share it.

Upgrade-stat lists come from the fan wiki's weapon table, corrected for v1.0.64 (Bone and Shotgun lost their Knockback upgrade). Damage and Cooldown (attack speed) raise every weapon. The check does not judge whether a build is strong — use the sourced presets and guides for that.

How tomes and weapons fit together

Sourced builds

These come from player guides, not from our own testing. Each guide's date matters, because patches changed several values later.

Final boss: Wireless Dagger with any character

From a Steam guide written for v1.0.12. Keep only two weapons — your starting weapon and the Wireless Dagger — so each gets more upgrades. Tomes: Quantity, Armor, Cooldown plus one open slot (Damage is the simple choice). Restart if you do not have Wireless Dagger + Quantity within the first 5–10 levels. Wanted items: Spicy Meatball, Anvil, Chonkplate, Demonic Soul, Beefy Ring + Demonic Blood, Boss Buster, Forbidden Juice, Battery. Do not open paid chests on stage 1; spend gold at Shady Guys instead.

Spooky Steve: execute and crowd control

From "The Definitive Steve Guide" (Dec 2025 – Jan 2026). Dexecutioner is mandatory because its execute still works on Steve; add Frostwalker and Black Hole, and Aegis if you play Athena (the guide says only Athena's Aegis blocks Steve's hit). Tomes: Duration, Cooldown, Quantity, XP. Avoid Difficulty (it makes Steve faster) and Knockback. Full fight notes on the bosses page.

Graveyard and Big Bob

From IvanIronfist's Graveyard guide (Dec 2025, before v1.0.49). Weapons: Dexecutioner, Katana and Aegis next to your starter. Items: Moldy Cheese for bosses and the Sucky Magnet. Extra jumps (or Monke's wall climb) matter because Big Bob floods the room with lava.

Chaos Tome unlock run

From a Steam guide (Oct 2025): Bandit for his Dexecutioner, plus Sniper Rifle, Katana and an area weapon (Revolver, Lightning Staff or Bananarang). Tomes: XP, Quantity, Bloody (lifesteal), Regen. Banish the Beacon. Route and rules on the Chaos Tome page.

What we did not include: "best character" or "best weapon" rankings. We have not found a source with a clear, current basis for one after v1.0.64, so we would rather not invent it.
