Azeroth Survivors Guide (2026): How to Play, Best Class & Tips
Updated · Game version checked: the build served at wow.aethus.pl on Oct 22, 2026 (alpha, changes often)
Azeroth Survivors is a free, fan-made World of Warcraft take on Vampire Survivors by Aethus, and you play it free in your browser at wow.aethus.pl (a WebGPU browser such as Chrome, Edge or Safari is required; a Windows download is on the same page).
Why there is no game window here: the developer's launcher only runs on wow.aethus.pl and shows "Fake website detected!" when the game is copied or put in a frame on another site. We respect that, so we link to the real page. Unofficial fan guide; not affiliated with Aethus or Blizzard Entertainment.
Official link and copy sites
| Link | Status | Why |
|---|---|---|
| wow.aethus.pl | Official | In-game credit "Made by Aethus"; linked in the developer's launch post (Oct 8, 2026 UTC); the launcher runs only on this address. |
| Windows download (on wow.aethus.pl) | Official | A RAR archive of about 755 MB as of Oct 22, 2026, linked from the game page. Needs no WebGPU. Take it only from the game page. |
| Community Discord | Official community | Linked from the game page and the launch post; changelogs and help. |
| azerothsurvivors.org, .games, .io and other look-alikes | Third-party | Not the developer's. The launcher's source names azerothsurvivors.org as a site that framed the game among ads. |
| GitHub: OutThisLife/azeroth-survivors-re | Third-party | A local rebuild for personal use; its README says "Not an original project". |
We found no official Game Jolt or itch.io page and no official GitHub repository from the developer.
How to play Azeroth Survivors
- Open wow.aethus.pl in Chrome, Edge or Safari. The first load downloads the game's world data, so give it a moment.
- Make a hero: pick a race (8: Human, Dwarf, Night Elf, Gnome for the Alliance; Orc, Undead, Tauren, Troll for the Horde) and one of 9 classes. Each race adds passive bonuses and a racial that casts on its own.
- Choose a zone. Zones open in a chain starting with Elwynn Forest: win one and the next unlocks for that class.
- Move to begin. You only move: your spells cast themselves. Kill the horde, collect experience and gold, and survive the bosses that arrive on a timer ("next boss in …").
- Level up: pick one of the offered spell cards. Card rarity (Common to Legendary) decides how strong the pick is. You can reroll, skip a hand for gold, and banish a card once per run.
- Win the zone by beating its final boss, then keep fighting in endless mode or return to the armory to spend talent points.
- Controls: keyboard and mouse; keys can be rebound in Options → Key Bindings. Escape pauses. On a gamepad: left stick moves, right stick turns the view, A jumps, bumpers and triggers zoom, Y opens stored level-ups.
- Saves: progress lives in your browser. Options → Saves lets you export or import a save file, and the game keeps an hourly backup of your progress (the last 5).
- AddOns: the Options menu can install addon .zip files made for WoW 1.12.
Talents, gear and zones
- Talent experience: every run pays talent experience to that class for time survived, kills, bosses and a win, with more in harder zones. Spend points in the armory's Talents tab between runs; respecs are free. Milestones at 10, 20 and 30 points change how your spells play, and capstones can change your starting spell.
- Gear: bosses drop gear for your class, and it stays in your collection for good. Battleground caches, elites and guardians offer rings, trinkets and amulets; legendary amulets remake one spell each.
- Caches: right-click a cache to buy it with gold.
- Run Options: raise the difficulty for more talent experience and better boss-loot odds, up to a cap.
- Account-wide: achievements give perk points and tabards for every hero; companions fetch coins and experience for you.
The 9 zones, in unlock order
- Elwynn Forest: The Defias Uprising. Final threat named in the zone text: The Defias leader.
- Duskwood: Night of the Nightbane. Final threat named in the zone text: Morbent Fel.
- Warsong Gulch: The Burning Legion. Final threat named in the zone text: Lord Kazzak.
- Arathi Basin: The Highlands Rise. Final threat named in the zone text: The Syndicate, sent by the last lord of Alterac.
- Feralas: The Gates of Dire Maul. Final threat named in the zone text: King Gordok.
- Gurubashi Arena: The Blood God Wakes. Final threat named in the zone text: Hakkar the Soulflayer.
- Alterac Valley: The Frozen Wilds. Final threat named in the zone text: The Ice Lord.
- Blackrock Mountain: The Lord of Blackrock. Final threat named in the zone text: The Lord of Blackrock.
- Gates of Ahn'Qiraj: The Old God Stirs. Final threat named in the zone text: C'Thun.
Zone order as listed in the game's text on Oct 22, 2026. The game is in alpha, so zones, bosses and balance change between builds.
Best class in Azeroth Survivors for your first run
Editorial pick, Oct 22, 2026. Based on the game's own class and race descriptions, not on win rates or play-tested numbers (none are published). The developer warns that balance is still alpha.
Warrior
In game: "Huge health, cleaving swings, and every kill feeds the fury."
Best first pick: the most room for mistakes while you learn the zones.
Paladin
In game: "Heals himself, shrugs off death once in a while."
Also beginner-friendly: self-healing plus a second chance.
Druid
In game: "Roots, hurricanes and the steadiest self-healing."
Safe if you like healing over time and crowd control.
Hunter
In game: "Arrows, traps and volleys, as long as you keep your distance."
Good once you are comfortable kiting.
Priest
In game: "Shields and heals keep you alive while pain spreads through the horde."
Defensive caster; starts with Smite.
Shaman
In game: "Storms that jump from foe to foe, and totems that fight beside you."
Chain damage for big packs.
Warlock
In game: "Damage over time stacks up on everything that chases you."
Rewards keeping enemies alive behind you.
Mage
In game: "The glass cannon. The biggest area damage in Azeroth, and nothing to hide behind."
High damage, low margin; starts with Fireball.
Rogue
In game: "Fast, fragile and lethal. The quickest hero."
Hardest for beginners; starts with Sinister Strike.
Races that suit a first run
- Tauren: +15% max health and War Stomp, which stuns nearby enemies every 15 sec.
- Orc: +10% max health and Blood Fury (+35% damage for 12 sec, every 40 sec).
- Troll: +1.5 health per second and Berserking (faster cooldowns).
- Human: +10% experience and +20% gold, which speeds up unlocks.
Race bonuses copied from the in-game race screen text on Oct 22, 2026.
Azeroth Survivors tips
- Keep moving. Your spells aim themselves; your job is positioning.
- Raise talents on one class first. Talent experience is earned per class, and an account perk can boost classes that lag behind your best one, so catching others up later is cheaper.
- Watch the boss timer. Clear space and be at full health before "next boss" hits zero.
- Use rerolls, skip and banish to steer level-ups toward one damage type; many talents boost a whole school (Fire, Frost, Shadow and so on).
- Export a save now and then (Options → Saves), especially before clearing browser data.
- Only play at wow.aethus.pl. Copies refuse to start, and downloads should come from the game page only.
FAQ
Is Azeroth Survivors free?
Yes. It is a free fan project with no account or login. The game's menu has an optional "Buy me a coffee :)" link to support the developer.
Where is the official Azeroth Survivors site?
wow.aethus.pl. The game credits itself as "Made by Aethus", the developer's launch post links there, and the launcher only starts on that address. Look-alike domains are third-party sites, not the developer's.
Why does it say "Fake website detected"?
You opened a copy, or a page that puts the game in a frame. The launcher refuses to run anywhere but wow.aethus.pl and links you to the real page. Progress made on a copy can be downloaded as a save file and imported on the real site (Options, Saves, Import Save).
Why is the screen black, or why does it say my browser has no WebGPU?
The game draws its 3D world with WebGPU. Use a current Chrome, Edge or Safari; on Linux, Chrome needs chrome://flags/#enable-unsafe-webgpu. Hardware acceleration must be on. If WebGPU still fails, use the Windows download from the game page.
What does "Too many people are playing" mean?
The site's server hit its request limit (HTTP 429). Try again later, use the Windows download on the same page, or check the community Discord.
Can I play Azeroth Survivors on my phone?
Sometimes. The page has touch controls and goes fullscreen on the first tap, but it still needs WebGPU, and the launcher's own notes record GPU crashes on some Android phones. A desktop browser is the reliable option.
Is Azeroth Survivors made by Blizzard? Do I need a WoW account?
No and no. It is an unofficial fan game built on a World of Warcraft 1.12.1 client engine; it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment, and the browser version needs no account.
Is the GitHub repo the official source?
No. OutThisLife/azeroth-survivors-re is a third-party local build; its own README says it is "not an original project" and points to wow.aethus.pl.
