Megabonk Characters: All 21, Starting Weapons, Passives & Unlocks
Updated · Patch covered: Megabonk v1.0.69 (Feb 4, 2026), still the latest on Steam as of Oct 22, 2026
Megabonk has 21 characters. Fox and Sir Oofie are free from the start. Every other character is unlocked by a quest and then bought with Silver: finishing the quest puts that character's starting weapon in the shop. Each character starts with one weapon and has a passive that grows every level.
All characters
Passives include the balance changes up to v1.0.69. Silver costs are from the Megabonk Fandom wiki and shown only where it lists one. Starting stats are player measurements from v1.0.7 and only show what differs from a typical character (100 Max HP, 0% Armor, 1% Evasion, 1x Movement Speed, 7 Jump Height, 5 Pickup Range, 0% Luck); later patches may have changed them.

Unlock order that follows normal play
Most unlocks come naturally if you push the maps in order. This is the path the quests imply:
- Forest Tier 1: clearing it unlocks CL4NK. Killing skeletons and goblins along the way works toward Calcium (1,000 Skeletons) and Ogre (15,000 Goblins).
- Forest Tier 2: clearing it unlocks Robinette; reaching stage 2 of it as CL4NK opens the Desert.
- Forest secrets: free Monke and defeat the hidden Bush on the Forest map.
- Desert Tiers 1 and 2: unlock Ninja and Vlad; the hidden Bandit is on the Desert map.
- Tier 3: clearing Tier 3 unlocks Sir Chadwell (wiki pages disagree on whether it must be Forest or Desert).
- Challenges and quests: 2 challenges for Tony McZoom, 6 for Spaceman, 100 quests for Dicehead.
Every quest in one list: Megabonk unlocks and quests.
Which character to start with
Editorial picks, October 22, 2026. Basis: the starting stats and passives above, not win-rate data.
- Sir Oofie — the most forgiving start: 150 Max HP, 17% Armor and +1% Armor per level.
- Fox — starts with 15% Luck and gains more each level, so chests and level-ups offer rarer picks.
- CL4NK — his Revolver fires 6 bullets and he gains Crit Chance per level, but he starts with only 40 HP (plus a 50 Shield), so he punishes mistakes.
- Monke — 135 Max HP, 1.2x Damage and wall climbing make him a safe early unlock.
To match tomes to each character's weapon, use the build planner; weapon stats are on the weapons page.
FAQ
How many characters are in Megabonk?
21. Twenty shipped at launch on September 18, 2025, and Roberto was added in the Spooky Update on December 14, 2025. Fox and Sir Oofie are unlocked from the start.
How do you unlock characters in Megabonk?
Each locked character has a quest (for example Ogre: kill 15,000 Goblins; Ninja: complete Desert Tier 1). Finishing the quest makes the character's starting weapon available in the shop, and you buy it with Silver. Monke, Bush and Bandit are found on the map instead; Roberto is unlocked by defeating Spooky Steve on the Graveyard.
Who is the best character for beginners?
Our editorial pick is Sir Oofie: he starts with 150 Max HP and 17% Armor and gains Armor every level, so mistakes cost less. Fox is the other default character and is better at finding rare upgrades thanks to his Luck.
Which character unlocks the Desert?
CL4NK. The Desert map unlocks when you teleport to the 2nd stage of Forest Tier 2 as CL4NK.
